Join us on August 5th for Live from the Lawn on First Fridays as the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and the Arts and the Friends of the Hawai‘i State Art Museum present Aerial Romance, featuring the acrobatic artistry of Samadhi Hawaii. Suspended from the monkeypod trees on the front lawn, Samadhi’s aerial dancers will perform high-flying choreography inspired by the stories of the Hawaiian islands.

Slack key master guitarist Jeff Peterson and his trio accompany the aerialists, joined by ukulele virtuoso Taimane Gardner and chanteuse Starr Kalahiki. Musical selections have been carefully coordinated with Samadhi to heighten the choreography’s effect. This much-anticipated annual showcase introduces Samadhi’s talented young students who will be fresh from an intensive aerial acrobatics course. Also gracing the lawn stage is Na Palapalai member and Hilo native, Kuana Torres Kahele, who will be performing original songs from his just-released solo album Kaunaloa.




All galleries of the Hawaii State Art Museum are open to the public during the event as well as the Showcase Hawaii museum shop. Food is available from Downtown@HiSAM and the following vendors on the Lawn: Soul Patrol, India Cafe, Le Crepe Café, Onopops, Kettle Corn Hawaii and Roots of Hawaii. This event is produced by Tim Bostock Productions and supported by the Friends of HiSAM.

ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE MUSEUM

The Hawai'i State Art Museum is located in No. 1 Capitol Distric Building at 250 South Hotel Street. The building is situated in the historic Hawaii Capital Cultural District, across from 'Iolani Palace and the State Capitol.
