Care to travel the world without leaving the island? On Friday, February 3, 2012, at the historic Mendonca Building in Downtown Honolulu from 5:30 pm till 10:00 pm you will find the Chinatown Courtyard transformed into a colorful Gypsy Night Market. This First Friday Event will feature enticing, rare and unique treasures created by island artists with ephemera derived from their own personal globe trotting. It will be a feast for the senses, with live music, massage, food, clothing by & for dancers, and even a henna artist to turn YOU into a work of art!
Special Big Island guest, Artist Stephanie Bolton, will be exhibiting her latest mixed media paintings of world dancers and island life. Boltons portraits of dancers have been published in several International publications and the latest never-before-published work will be on display for the first time at this event. She will also be doing portraits on site, if you care to be immortalized yourself.
Any gypsy knows that jewelry always fits, so youll be happy to find Reverie hand crafted jewelry by Alessandra Jann-Jordan and Fine Art cards made from materials from Korea, Italy, France and other exotic locations from her own gypsy travels. Youll be captivated by the work of Nilma Hunter who designs and handcrafts unique pieces with earth friendly silver (reclaimed from old electronic equipment and other resources) and other sustainable mediums such as sea glass and shells found on beaches and Golden Grass (naturally recurring in the central area of Brazil).
Pin up model, painter, hat designer and Tattoo artist: Lydia VonScollon will be unveiling her Tattoo inspired artwork. Also discover the enchanting paintings of Susan Riesse of Glitter Gypsy. Come delight in the poetry through the lens of She Grooves Photography. These are just some of the incredible artists you can expect to find at the Chinatown Courtyards Gypsy Night Market. It will be a memorable evening- we do hope youll join us!
