**Cheyne Gallarde
Cheyne Gallarde is an award-winning photographer whose vintage fashion is immediately recognizable. His work is a potent fusion of fashion and time travel and has appeared in local and international publications. You can view more of his work at www.firebirdphoto.com

... Cheyne will be presenting his collection, Universe of One in April at Loading Zone. Universe of One is an ambitious portrait project by artist and photographer Cheyne Gallarde. It’s an ever-expanding catalog of characters all played by one man. Using only makeup, wardrobe and lighting tricks, Cheyne transforms himself into a rainbow of people, each with their own personalities and presence.

Universe of One was inspired by the work of Cindy Sherman. It is an attempt to connect humanity in an artistic and conceptual way, by examining how we are different, yet so similar in many ways.

About Chanel Tanaka

Hawaii born artist Chanel Tanaka first encountered painting and drawing at a very young age. A hobby quickly turned into a passion, which transformed into a life changing career. Her main focus is on acrylic paintings with expanding interests into mixed media, including metallic paints. The artwork features a contemporary Asian silohuette style. Inspired by traditional Japanese Geisha and Samurai, her paintings embody Japanese, lifestyle, culture and architecture.

Silhouette - A silhouette is the image of a person, an object or scene consisting of the outline and a featureless interior, with the silhouetted object usually being black. Traditionally, a silhouette is a form of artwork, the term originating in the 18th century and applied to portraits or other pictorial representations cut from thin black card.[1] Silhouette images may be created in any artistic media, but the tradition of cutting portraits from black card has continued into the 21st century.

From its original graphic meaning, the term “silhouette” has been extended to describe the sight or representation of a person, object or scene that is backlit, and appears dark against a lighter background. Anything that appears this way, for example, a figure standing backlit in a doorway, may be described as “in silhouette”.

Chanel currently co-created the Geisha: Women of Art Show that incorporates art, fashion, dance, and body-painting to create an interactive sensual feast.
