Get ready to heat up our already hot summer July First Friday at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum with the Second Annual Star-Studded evening of Jazz and Blues! Brought to you by the Hawai‘i Friends of Civil Rights, First Friday in July will feature Shari Lynn, Ginai, Star Kalahiki, Al Harrington, The Chuck James Trio, and other special guests. Last years appearance was packed, so arrive early! Join us July 5, 2013 for First Friday at The Hawai‘i State Art Museum from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

First Friday in August will welcome back Dayton Watanabe to the Second Floor of the Hawai‘i State Art Museum. Dayton's sweet, and soft style of guitar playing is well suited for our galleries. He will be playing some classic slack key tunes, as well as contemporary music that we will all recognize. It's always a relaxing time when Dayton is here. Join us August 2, 2013 for First Friday at The Hawai‘i State Art Museum from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

The Hawai‘i State Art Museum would like to again, thank the Hawai‘i Youth Symphony for gracing us with their talent this past June, for First Friday at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum. This time was part of the Hawai‘i Youth Symphony's Alumni Chamber Music Series, with seasoned musicians and also recently graduated artists. As usual, the music was excellent, and I think we can expect them back next year!

The galleries of HiSAM will be open during your visit.

Galleries are open from 6 to 8:45 p.m. on First Friday. As the museum's supply of chairs are limited, low folding chairs and mats are recommended at the second floor open courtyard, which overlooks the newly opened Sculpture Garden. Don't miss this special treat

ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE MUSEUM

The Hawai'i State Art Museum is located in No. 1 Capitol Distric Building at 250 South Hotel Street. The building is situated in the historic Hawaii Capital Cultural District, across from 'Iolani Palace and the State Capitol.
