Join us on First Friday on March 7, 2014 from 6 -- 9 p.m. at the Hawai‘i State Art Museum

Aria di sorbetto, Messa di voce, Vibrato… three clues that First Friday in March will feature the Hawai‘i Opera Theatre (HOT). However, you don't have to understand it to love it! Join us on March 7th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for an evening of beautiful music with members of the Mae Z. Orvis Opera Studio of Hawai‘i Opera Theatre, accompanied by pianist Eric Schank.

Established in 1960 and one of the largest performing arts organizations in the state, Hawai‘i Opera Theatre is recognized for its vibrant and creative productions and artistic excellence. Artists who have graced stages from the New York Met to opera houses throughout Europe and Asia compete to perform on the HOT stage alongside Hawai‘i's best local artists. Additionally, the company's outreach programs impact thousands of young people around the state each year. At the end of this month on March 28 & 30, HOT is staging a double production of Pagliacci & Carmina Burana at the Blaisdell Center. Visit www. http://hawaiiopera.org for more information.

HiSAM thanks the Performing Arts Center of Kapolei-Kids (PACKids) for bringing starlight to February's First Friday. This group of high-energy youth dazzled the crowd with perfectly synchronized dance moves, sword play routines, and vocal presentations that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.

Mark your calendars for a very busy First Friday in April! In addition to the annual Art at the Capitol celebration, be sure to come down to HiSAM for a multimedia dance performance from Monkey Waterfall and a special calligraphic performance by Shisui Hashimoto.

ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE MUSEUM

The Hawai'i State Art Museum is located in No. 1 Capitol Distric Building at 250 South Hotel Street. The building is situated in the historic Hawaii Capital Cultural District, across from 'Iolani Palace and the State Capitol.
