Downbeat presents Club Underground - a live music showcase in Downbeat Lounge every First Friday. This month features the multi-instrumentalist Hawaiiana-Blues-Rock artist Tavana and reggae-rock group The Urchinz.

TAVANA's blend of singer/songwriter, acoustic-blues-roots has been rapidly grabbing the attention of listeners throughout the island chain.

By showcasing his live music 7 nights a week for months on end in Waikiki the heart of Honolulu he has sent many of Hawaii's visitors home feeling a long awaited fresh sound in their ears.

Tavanas tedious work ethic and innovative sound has gained him extensive radio play of original music like Vanster Hop, Warrior Song, and Still They Want More quickly gaining momentum among Hawaii's local scene.

THE URCHINZ
After playing for and extensively touring with Hawaii Ska band, Red Session, until 2000, singer/songwriter/guitarist, Pat Harrison, became part of another Hawaii band called "Kamakazi Kong." They were only together for a year, but Patrick borrowed a couple songs from that project and began writing songs with Steve Ashcraft in both Hawaii and Indonesia from 2005-2010. Many of the songs on "The Urchinz" soon to be released album were inspired by their friendship and surf exploration.

The Downbeat Diner & Lounge is located at 42 North Hotel Street Next to Manifest & across from 39 Hotel.

Serving quality classic diner favorites; burgers, house made vegan burgers, fries, milkshakes, sandwiches, nonstop breakfast, and desserts with vegetarian and vegan options for every menu item. Downbeat is open 11am-3am M-TR and 11am- 4am on the weekends.

Downbeat Diner is inspired by classic American diners and serves up many familiar dishes like burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes, and fries, but also focuses on healthy vegetarian and vegan options as well. Along with this, Downbeat only uses grass fed Hawaii free range beef for their hamburgers, and as much local produce as possible. Downbeat believes that good comfort food should come from good sources and should be enjoyed by omnivores and vegetarians alike.

The basket of fritters are a MUST GET, though. Big pieces, a cup of caramel sauce, and fritters so soft and sweet that the sauce is almost an after thought. if you MUST get dessert, get the basket of fritters.
