Hawaii State Art Museum

FIRST FRIDAY: LEDWARD KAAPANA

Legendary slack key guitarist and ‘ukulele master Ledward Kaapana will perform for September First Friday.

There will also be an opening reception for Accession, a new exhibition featuring a selection of recently acquired works in the Art in Public Places Collection of the Hawai‘i State Art Museum.

First Friday is a downtown gallery walk held on the first Friday of every month. Galleries and museums, including the Hawai‘i State Art Museum, are open for the event which is free to the public.

The Hawai‘i State Art Museum is located at the No. 1 Capitol District Building, 250 South Hotel Street. Parking across the street in the Ali'i Place building (entrance at 1099 Alakea St., $3 flat rate after 5 p.m., cash only), metered parking at ‘Iolani Palace, or metered street parking. Or take TheBus, there are several lines that stop in front of or close to the building.

ABOUT THE HAWAII STATE MUSEUM

The Hawai'i State Art Museum is located in No. 1 Capitol Distric Building at 250 South Hotel Street. The building is situated in the historic Hawaii Capital Cultural District, across from 'Iolani Palace and the State Capitol. The museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. For more information on the Hawai'i State Art Museum call (808) 586-0900
