May: Hawaii Master Artists Show
May 3 - May 5
A Benefit Sale for Friends of the Hawai'i State Art Museum
From Jean Charlot, John Young, Satoru Abe, Tadashi Sato, Madge Tennent, Reuben Tam, to Toshiko Takaezu, Hawai'i's legendary artists are valued in exclusive fine art museums and collections globally.
Never before outside a museum and in one place, have so many pieces from so many of Hawai'i's all time master artists been available to view and purchase. The Friends of HiSAM have gathered works from private collectors who are eager to advance the FHiSAM mission of celebrating and perpetuating the legacy of Hawai'i's important artists. The goal is to expand the local art history knowledge and appreciation and stimulate new collectors. The artwork will be priced attractively towards that goal with the assistance of Art Appraisers, Wayne Morioka and Andres Harnisch. Many of these works have never been publicly shown since they were originally acquired decades ago. Interest in mid-century furniture and design is at an all-time high, and the authentic art that goes with it, from that era.
Come view and purchase art from the private collections of esteemed individuals that include Satoru Abe, Greg Northrop, Henry Blakstad, and the estate of Jay Jensen.
Opens to the public:
May 4, First Friday, 5:30 -- 9 p.m. (valet parking on Richards St.)
May 5, 10 a.m. -- noon
For inquiries about this event or interest in submitting relevant works to be included in this show, please email friendsofhisam@gmail.com or call 808-225-1072.
