‘Selections from CONTACT ZONE' features artwork from the fifth installment of CONTACT, an annual exhibition of contemporary art made in Hawai‘i. The artwork in this year's show explores the notion of ‘CONTACT ZONES,' or spaces of cultural exchange and mitigation. Offering a comprehensive survey of contemporary art in Hawai‘i, with a critical focus on what it means to live, coexist, and be from and transplant to Hawai‘i.
‘Selections from CONTACT ZONE' is on view at The ARTS at Marks Garage, July 3--28, 2018, Tuesday--Saturday, 12pm--5pm. Join us for our First Friday Exhibition Opening, July 6, 6pm--9pm.

PACIFIC TONGUES - YOUTH SPEAKS: Promotes teen literacy and civic engagement through the performance art of slam poetry by offering weekly writing workshops, hosting monthly poetry slams and open mics, organizing interscholastic poetry slams, and sending a youth team to national competition every summer.
ALOHA DYING FILM: A local documentary about the social and economic ills facing the state of Hawai'i and its residents. The film covers racial tension, cost of living, homelessness, American influence, and the legal status of Hawai'i as a state. Directed by journalist and local resident Cody Brooks.

CONTACT ZONE, the fifth installment of CONTACT that took place this past April 2018 is continuing it's reach to be featured in Chinatown, Honolulu at The Arts at Marks Garage. Offering a comprehensive survey of contemporary art in Hawai‘i, with a critical focus on what it means to live, coexist, and be from and transplant to Hawai‘i.
CONTACT ZONE Chinatown, Honolulu will be on view July 3rd-28th Tuesday-Saturday 12p-5p at the Arts at Marks Garage exhibition space.
