Upcoming Courtyard Gallery Exhibition
Ed Greevy: Philosopher, Traveler, Photographer

On View February 6-28, 2025
Downtown Art Center is proud to host an exhibition of special portraits made by Ed Greevy of his friend and collaborator, Professor Haunani-Kay Trask. These photographs track their evolving friendship and clearly suggest the work they did together in later years on books that showcased their mutual passion for justice and righting the wrongs of the past. These photographs are special in another way, too – they were printed by Ed in a darkroom, images brought to life in trays of developer and the process stopped with fixer when it blossomed into the image that he had envisioned in his mind’s eye. That makes these prints special in a way that Ed would have appreciated, being the careful, highly demanding photographer that he was. So this is an exhibit about two fierce warriors – a leader of a people who demanded justice with the touch of a poet, and an artist who used his camera to tell the story of the struggle.
