About Kristen Olson
Inspired by the incredible beauty and dramatic scenery of Hawaii, Kristen's artwork features landscapes and figures in their natural surroundings. She strives to capture unique moments in time. A warm glow with sparkling colors, abstract water patterns, striking clouds, and thoughtful figurative poses are just some of the phrases that characterize her work. Her work is best described as a poetic blend of contemporary impressionism and representational art. Internationally recognized, Kristen's artwork appears in both private and corporate collections.
The range of Olson's work shows her talent as a painter and her philosophy toward painting. "When I view one of my paintings, I want it to bring me back to when I was on the scene. I want it to convey the emotion that first captured my attention - the temperature, the atmosphere and the soul of the place. This is the goal of my work - to go past just the image and touch the viewer in a way that evokes emotion"
Rather than just reproducing the object or telling a story, Kristen creates her images with the dramatic and subtle use of color. The viewer's eye sees the vivid color and reacts to the color - each perception unique. Kristen's paintings are also filled with the contrasts of heavy textured brushstrokes to soft fluid washes.
