The 33rd Annual 'Commitment to Excellence' Art Exhibition, sponsored by the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC), is seeking entries from local artists for its August 23 - September 1, 2011 exhibit at the Academy Art Center at Linekona.

Interested artists should submit their works to the Academy Art Center at Linekona on August 16 - 17, 2011, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Accepted entrants will be notified on August 18, 2011.

A $1000 'Award of Excellence' prize will be presented to the most outstanding work by a juried-in entrant. Cash awards will be given for 1st place ($500), 2nd place ($300), 3rd place ($200), Honorable Mention ($75), and a Newcomer Award ($100) for two and three dimensional category works.

Entry specifications include: two and three dimensional media, pieces must be ready 'wired' for installation, and the artist's sale price must be determined prior to date of entry. Two-dimensional works must be no larger than 5 feet x 7 feet (height and width) Three-dimensional works can be no larger than 6 feet x 6 feet x 6 feet. The weight of each work shall not exceed 300 pounds. Works exhibited in previous HJCC art exhibitions are ineligible. A fee of $15 for the first entry and $10 for the 2nd entry and beyond will be charged. No limit on the number of entries.

The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce was established in 1900 and is one of Honolulu's largest business trade organizations. Its purpose is to provide its members with the leadership and organization to promote Hawaii's business and economic development, in Hawaii and Japan. The Chamber also provides its members awareness and involvement in government affairs affecting business and the community general. The Chamber's membership represents a cross-section of the city's businesses, industries, and professions.
