PRESS INFORMATION: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT MANOA
Department of Art & Art History
University of Hawaii Art Gallery
The University of Hawaii Art Gallery is pleased to
present its upcoming exhibition schedule. The Faculty
Exhibition kicks off the fall semester with recent work by current art
faculty at the Department of Art and Art History, University of Hawaii at
Manoa. Please join the artists for the opening reception on
September 4 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. The exhibition runs through September
30.
Fourteen visiting artists from Pacific Rim countries
have just arrived for the East-West Ceramics Collaboration V
workshop at the Department of Art and Art History, University of Hawaii at
Manoa. Many people are familiar with the four previous programs that have
been organized by Suzanne Wolfe, professor of art. The first collaboration
was held in 1995. This current workshop runs from July 11 through August
5. The workshop events program begins July 14 and includes presentations
by the artists and an open house.
Visitors are welcome to drop by the ceramics courtyard
to see the artists and their works. The artists ask that visitors avoid
coming by at meal times, and that they respect the artists who are
working.
The artwork created during the workshop will be
featured in the exhibition East-West Ceramics Collaboration V at
the University of Hawaii Art Gallery from October 23 through December 9,
2011. The diverse works highlight the cultural, technical, and conceptual
exchanges that occurred among the artists during the workshop. The opening
reception is scheduled for October 23 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.
The schedules for the East-West Ceramics
program and the UH Art Gallery are below and in the attachments. The
artists' presentations, open house, opening receptions, and exhibitions are free
and open to the public. Parking fees may apply.
Please share this information with others who may be
interested. For more information about the East-West
Ceramics workshop and events please contact Suzanne Wolfe at
956-5264.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
