Exhibition Summary:
A relation: a transition into the void of waking dreams and intrusive memory.

MFA student Jessica Orfe relates an exploration of dreams in her graduate thesis exhibition, Liminal, displayed in the Commons Gallery at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa. Liminal describes the intermediary zone between wakeful experience and sleep. Drawings act as portals into this space. The process of tempering graphite illustrations over fire alters their nature, much like dreams transform the familiar into the uncanny. A large-scale video projection streams a pulsing loop of dream imagery, referencing the random unconscious.

The exhibition runs from March 3rd through March 8th. The opening reception will be held on Sunday, March 3rd, from 3:00 -- 5:00 at the Commons Gallery.
