The 35th Annual 'Commitment to Excellence' Art Exhibition, sponsored by the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC), is seeking entries from local artists for its Tuesday, August 13 - Thursday, August 22, 2013 exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art School.

We welcome all interested local artists to submit entries to this art exhibit. As a Hawaii artist, this is your opportunity to showcase your creativity and talent!

"Commitment to Excellence" Art Exhibition Seeks Local Artists

Honolulu, HI -- The 35th Annual "Commitment to Excellence" Art Exhibition, sponsored by the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce (HJCC), is seeking entries from local artists for its August 13 - 22, 2013 exhibit at the Honolulu Museum of Art School. The Exhibition will feature an exciting mix of 80 - 100 pieces by both emerging and invited artists.

What: 35th Annual "Commitment to Excellence" Art Exhibition

When: August 13 - 22, 2013

Where: Honolulu Museum of Art School (1111 Victoria Street, Honolulu, HI 96814)

Admission: Free (Open to the Public)

Interested artists should submit their works to the Honolulu Museum of Art School on August 6 - 7, 2013, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Accepted entrants will be notified on August 8, 2013. A $1000 "Award of Excellence" prize will be presented to the most outstanding work by a juried-in entrant. Cash awards will be given for lst place ($500), 2nd place ($300), 3rd place ($200) and Honorable Mention ($75) for two and three dimensional category works. We will also award a special $100 Newcomer prize so we encourage new artists to submit their works.

Entry specifications include: two and three dimensional media, pieces must be ready "wired" for installation, and the artist"s sale price must be determined prior to date of entry. Two-dimensional works must be no larger than 5 feet x 7 feet (height and width) Three-dimensional works can be no larger than 6 feet x 6 feet x 6 feet. The weight of each work shall not exceed 250 pounds. Works exhibited in previous HJCC art exhibitions are ineligible. A fee of $15 for the first entry and $10 for the 2nd entry and beyond will be charged. No limit on the number of entries. The exhibition will run from Tuesday, August 13 -- Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the Honolulu Museum of Art School. Admission is free and open to the public. Exhibition works will be available for sale.

The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce was established in 1900 and is one of Honolulu"s largest business trade organizations. Its purpose is to provide its members with the leadership and organization to promote Hawaii"s business and economic development, in Hawaii and Japan. The Chamber also provides its members awareness and involvement in government affairs affecting business and the community general.
