30th ANNUAL HONOLULU CITY LIGHTS -- OPENING NIGHT AT A GLANCE
WHO: Honolulu City Lights will celebrate three decades of tree lightings and holiday fun!
WHAT: A 50-foot Norfolk Pine tree is illuminated; it will be covered with large versions of the signature ornaments sold by the Friends of Honolulu City Lights. These ornaments depict outdoor scenes associated with the event and the Shaka Santa's holoholo journeys around town
WHEN: Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 6:00 pm
WHERE: Honolulu Hale
WHY: Great family fun that includes, the all-new Enchanted Forest home for Santa in the Honolulu Hale Couryard along with a display of 24 Christmas trees decorated by City employees and a public wreath Contest exhibit in the Lane Gallery. Also at 6:00 pm, The Electric Light Parade will pass by Honolulu Hale after traveling through Chinatown and downtown. Hello Kitty fans should arrive early to find a good spot along the King Street parade route which starts an Aala Park.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2014
4 PM
Food booths, keiki rides and souvenir stands open on the grounds of the Civic Center.
Friends of Honolulu City Lights will be selling 20 different ornaments from 2000-2014 that are represented on the big tree.
T-shirt and blinkie/glowstick booths.
Arrive early (4-5 pm) and park in the Civic Center Parking Garage with entrance off Alapai and/or Beretania.
6 PM
Mayor's tree lighting Ceremony begins on the front steps of Honolulu Hale.
Featuring one of the original HCL emcees, Ms. Emme Tomimbang, who returns to emcee
the 30th year opening ceremonies. Musical performance by the Kamehameha
Middle School Choral Group.
6 PM
The Public Workers Electric Light Parade, sponsored by HECO and Macy's, begins at Aala Park and proceeds down King Street. This year's parade is dedicated to The Parade Man--the late Nelson Fujio. Macy's will have a special guest as part of their parade contingent: Hello Kitty.
6:30 PM.
Mayor and Guests illuminate the City's 50 foot Norfork Pine Tree decorated with huge versions of the event's ornaments created since 2000 plus candy and bows. The tree lighting will trigger a "corridor of lights" in downtown Honolulu.

The Public Workers Electric Light Parade reaches King and Punchbowl Street to continue past Honolulu Hale.
6:30 PM
Wreath and Tree Exhibitions Open inside Honolulu Hale Courtyard.
6:30 PM
Santa Visits with children on the Opening Night Santa Stage in Mission Houses Auditorium, sponsored by Hawaiian Telcom.
7:30 PM
HCL Holiday Concert at the Skygate Stage on the grounds of the Civic Center.
Featuring headliner Willie K.and his band (9:15-10 pm) and from 7:30 - 9 pm - performances by the Sounds of Aloha Barbershop Chorus, the Joan S. Lindsey Hula Studio/Ka Pa Nani 'O Lilinoe, Maunalua , and from America's Got Talent Season Four-Hawaii's own Ciana Pelekai.
7:30 PM
Families are welcome to visit with the city workers who have decorated their vehicles for the parade. Street closed until 8:30 p.m.
11:PM
HCL closes for the day. Open daily from 8 a.m. - 11 p.m. including Christmas and New Year's Day, till January 4, 2015.
