HONOLULU, HI -- Convergence Dance Theatre returns to The ARTS at Marks Garage with their newest contemporary dance piece: Variables. Local dancers and choreographers will explore the concept of variables -- changing factors such as space, time, circumstance and emotion -- through movement and relationship.

"The dancers guide the audience through a thought-provoking conversation about the essence of our human response to change" says Jennifer Shannon, Artistic Director of Convergence Dance Theatre (CDT). "In creating new work I am always inspired by challenging myself to see the world differently; to see and experience something common, something known, in a new and fresh way. In collaboration I am pushed to see other points of view and align my vision to a shared experience. It is a very humbling human experience. One from which I learn more about myself, my friends, my community and my world every time."

Led by artistic director Jennifer Butler Shannon (Jenny) and co-director Meghen McKinley, CDT is a non-profit collaborative modern dance company known locally for their energetic and athletic dancing. For 9 years CDT has created and performed emotionally charged choreography with humorous and often satirical looks at personal, social and political issues. Each CDT concert presents work from various company and guest choreographers joined by a concurrent theme, always representing the collaborative spirit that fuels CDT's passion for creating new work through process-oriented choreography.

Special guest artists for these performances: Cora Yamagata and Camille Monson.

Advance tickets can be purchased for $15 at eventbrite.com. Tickets will also be available 30 minutes before each performance at The ARTS at Marks Garage for $20.

The ARTS at Marks Garage is supported in part by Kumu Kahua Theatre - presenting world-class theatre by and about Hawai‘i's people in the heart of downtown Honolulu, Spire Hawai‘i, Kaiser Permanente, Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and Arts, Colliers International, Hawai‘i Community Foundation, O‘io Fund, Kona Brewing Company and 1001 Friends.
