Storm Large cartwheeled out of the gutter of her checkered past, across a thousand punk rock stages, and into her infamously googled stint on a rock n' roll reality series. From there she went on to tour the world, singing in 17 different languages, and only behaving herself somewhat, with the joyful little pop orchestra Pink Martini. Ultimately, this route lead to her appearance on the stage of Carnegie Hall singing Kurt Weill with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. |

A night of intrepid songwriting and acoustic innovation, beginning with Aoife O'Donovan at center stage. O'Donovan draws from her catalogue of songs, played as she wrote them; with just her acoustic guitar and voice. The Washington Post describes her singing as "almost too gorgeous for its own good." Julian Lage & Chris Eldridge follow with their masterly acoustic performance typical of the virtuosic duo, known for pushing the envelope of folk, bluegrass, and jazz. Showcasing, as The New Yorker writes, a "familiarity with the fretboard…so extravagant and capacious that they bring flourishes to this music that it simply hasn't enjoyed before," their performance is sure to astound. The evening concludes with all three on stage together in an aural-hootenanny. |

Proclaimed as the "Pride of the Pacific," the beautiful Hawaii Theatre, built by the Consolidated Amusement Company, opened its doors September 6, 1922 in downtown Honolulu. The Hawaii Theatre operated as a showplace for vaudeville, plays, musicals and silent films until it fell into disrepair and the land lease was abandoned by Consolidated in 1984.
In 1986, the Hawaii Theatre Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation was formed to save the Hawaii Theatre from the wrecking ball and in May 1996, the Hawaii Theatre reopened its doors as a 1400-seat, multi-purpose, state-of-the art performance center.
The Hawaii Theatre was recognized as the 'Outstanding Historic Theatre in America' in 2005 by the League of Historic American Theatres and, in 2006, was awarded an Honor Award by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
Listed on both the State and National Registers of Historic Places, the Hawaii Theatre is available for all of Hawaii to enjoy.
Administrative Offices: Monday through Friday; 9AM - 5PM.
Box Office: Tuesday through Saturday; 9AM - 5PM.
