First Thursdays Poetry Slam at Hawaiian Brian's Thursday 11/4/2016

Join us this Thursday (November 3rd) for a mind-blowing installment of First Thursdays at Hawaiian Brian's!! As always, this HawaiiSlam show will be hosted by Kealoha and will feature:
-- Hadas Goshen, the founder and host of Google poetry spoken word group who has competed on multiple national slam teams, most recently representing the SF Bay at the 2016 National Poetry Slam in Decatur, Georgia. She first cut her teeth on the slam scene back in 2009 as a member of the UC Berkeley Cal Slam team, placing 3rd at the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational. A former journalist, Hadas has been published in O, the Oprah Magazine, and the New York Times.
-- An official qualifier for the 2016-2017 HawaiiSlam season. Normal slam rules apply, and the top two poets will advance to the 2017 Grand Slam Finals (on April 6th, 2017) that will determine HawaiiSlam's 14th National Poetry Slam team. Winner of this qualifier slam receives $100.
-- Turntable Sorcery by DJ Monkey (Secret Record Store / Scratch)
-- Live painting by the resident artists (past artists include Solomon Enos, Aaron "Angry Woebots" Martin, Erin McCullough, Kimi Werner, The Storekeeper, Dhyana Zagri, Stanstill, Nabahe, Wes Ka'uhane, Neal Uno, Pancho Abalos, Mike Fresh, Manny P, Patti Bruce, Aaron Char, Mark Agnir, Jeff Lum, Samantha Goldman, Earl Washington, Clinton "Clean" Haness, Sequoia, Carol Tagawa, TJ Howe, Nikila Badua, Jeremiah Skurtu, Sarah Hodges, Hanam Mun, Risa Oram, and Melissa Soriano)

Validated parking for Hawaiian Brian's is $2 up to 3 hours, $4 up to 4 hours, and $6 up to 5 hours. There is plenty of street parking in the area as well (note, if you street park or walk/bike/bus, enter through the 24 Hour Fitness lobby on Kapi`olani and walk up the stairs).
