Pu'uhonua Society presents Selections from CONTACT 3017, curated by PARADISE COVE. The curators have selected work from their exhibition, CONTACT 3017: Hawaiʻi in a Thousand Years, originally presented at the Honolulu Museum of Art School in April 2017. The exhibition will feature artwork by local artists who were asked to take on the role of futurologists, envisioning and forecasting probable, possible and unknown futures of the Islands.
For the third year, CONTACT will present an edited selection of work from its annual exhibition at the ARTS at Mark's Garage. CONTACT is an annual exhibition of contemporary art exploring the notion ofcontactas it relates to the Hawaiian Islands, its people and their experiences.

Shakespeare's romantic comedy turned tragedy stars two of Hawaii's finest young Shakespearean actors as the doomed lovers, alongside a cast of talented HSF veterans. Ari Dalbert, winner of the 2016 ESU National Shakespeare Competition, plays Romeo and Alisa Boland, who placed at the state level,plays Juliet.

Shakespeare's madcap comedy of mistaken identity is his shortest, and funniest, play. Guest director Shirley Kagan sets the action in bustling 1920s Ephesus (which looks a lot like New York). Former ESU National Shakespeare Competition champion Connor Lawhorn stars as the bewildered Antipholus of Ephesus.
Second Saturday Discover Art

Every second Saturday on Pauahi St., the Creative Arts Experience features artists andperformers, stationed around the Chinatown community, to offer art classes,demonstrations and lessons. Activities will be interactive and geared towardchildren and families. Activities will include watercolors, face and body painting, take-away art, ceramics,papier-mâché, and more!

Books at Marks, a bookstore by Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i, opened on April 4th in The ARTS at Marks Garage and will be a continuing fixture in the newly renovated space. Open: Tuesday-Saturday, 12pm-5pm, and until 10 pm on First Fridays and select other events.

The Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i is staging a preview of select donated art works from it's 70th Annual Book Sale -July 15-23, 2017at McKinley High School Cafeteria. This exhibition is a small sampling of the wide range of international, mainland, and Hawaiian paintings, prints, and photographs that have been assembled, matted and framed, documented, and reasonably priced by FLH volunteers for the upcoming Annual Sale. Artwork shown -- "Aloha Ukulele" by Frank McIntosh.

Improvisers! You've already got some skills...it's time to step up your game! Hawaii's TV and Film Industry is constantly growing. Now's the time to prepare yo urself to do your best work when you're in the audition room.
In this class, you will learn audition technique, script analysis and scene work. Improvisers will learn essential tools to aid them in the business of acting and will learn how to create emotional truth on camera in a safe, non-judgmental environment.
The last 15-20 minutes of class will be dedicated to a Q&A.

Improv can be scary...and improv rapping can be even scarier! SO LET'S TRY IT! Finding your flow and spitting out lyrics is like "...the feeling of freedom, of seeing the light It's Ben Franklin with a key & a kite. You see it, right?" (psst...that's a line from Hamilton the musical).
In this all level class, students will learn the basics of freestyle rap and how to use it within improvised scenes or in your every day life. Get out of your head and into your flow!
NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. Students will learn in a safe, non-judgemental environment where support is our number one rule.
All levels welcome!
