Honolulu Hale to be illuminated in teal in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month

Honolulu – Mayor Kirk Caldwell has requested that Honolulu Hale be illuminated in the color teal from Sunday, April 14 to Saturday, April 20, in recognition of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).

Teal is the official color for sexual assault awareness and prevention.

“It’s up to all of us to ensure that sexual assault is never tolerated here on O‘ahu, across Hawai‘i and in our nation,” said Mayor Caldwell. “Although the Hale will be illuminated in teal for a full week, we need to remain vigilant about abuse throughout the year and make it clear to victims that their safety is paramount, and that they will be heard and supported.”

In addition to the lighting of Honolulu Hale, Mayor Caldwell will participate in a Sexual Assault Awareness Month proclamation ceremony on Tuesday, April 16 at 1 p.m. inside of the Honolulu City Council chambers at Honolulu Hale.
