The annual MFA exhibition is the culminating event of our intensive graduate degree in studio practice. The MFA Thesis consists of a Thesis Exhibition, Thesis Paper and Oral Defense that jointly investigates a specific idea, theory, or set of questions.Graduate-level thesis work should create new knowledge or understanding as well as demonstrate the student’s mastery in a given area, marking her/his transition from apprentice to peer.
The thesis exhibitions are part of a demanding course of study, production, and review. MFA candidates concurrently present new and engaging works that demonstrate each artist’s caliber of ideas, skills, awareness of the global context within which art is created and circulated, and critically engaged artistic practice.
