  The Honolulu Zoo is happy to announce the birth of twin ring-tailed lemurs on April 18, Easter Sunday. The twins are the offspring of parents Remi, a five-year-old female, and Finn, a four-year-old male. Their 10-month old brother, Clark, was born at the Honolulu Zoo on June 10, 2019. Both parent lemurs arrived separately at the Honolulu Zoo in the fall of 2018 with hopes of bearing offspring.

  The City and County of Honolulu announced an Individual COVID-19 Hardship Relief Program using money from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. This relief fund will begin with $25 million in CARES Act funds targeted to assist those hardest hit by unemployment or business interruptions due to COVID-19 related business closures. The relief fund is intended to assist with basic needs, such as rent, eligible utilities, childcare, and other essential expenses. The program is scheduled to launch on May 18.

  The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) is scheduled to perform road pavement repairs on Diamond Head Road between 22nd Avenue and Kahala Avenue beginning Tuesday, May 26. This section of Diamond Head Road will be closed to all vehicular traffic Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All traffic including buses will be temporarily detoured around this portion of Diamond Head Road during construction work hours.

  Mayor Kirk Caldwell announced today that starting Friday, June 5, in-person table service dining in restaurants in the City and County of Honolulu will be allowed following the City's guidelines approved by Governor David Ige.

  The City and County of Honolulu announced that TheHandi-Van Eligibility Center is again conducting in-person assessments for those wishing to extend or apply for TheHandi-Van eligibility. TheHandi-Van is a public transit service for people with disabilities who are unable to independently use TheBus.

  The Honolulu Zoo is happy to announce they received two new Reticulated Giraffes from the Albuquerque Biological Park on Thursday, May 21. Neelix (male) was born on January 6, 2019 and is 1 year and 4 months old. Sandi (female) was born on July 5, 2019 and is about 10 months old. The International Union for Conservation of Nature has the Reticulated Giraffe listed as "endangered," on the IUCN Red List.
