Oahu Opens Appointments To More Expired Driver Licenses And State IDs

O‘ahu’s Driver Licensing Centers
HONOLULU – The City and County of Honolulu announced today that online appointments are now open for residents whose Hawai‘i driver licenses and state identification cards have expiration dates this year in March, April, May, June and July.
The new parameters are in direct response to the recent announcement by the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation about its intentions to grant all driver licenses, instruction permits and state IDs that expire between March 16 and June 30, 2020 an emergency extension, which would allow them to remain valid through Sept. 30, 2020.
“This positive action by the Hawai‘i Department of Transportation will certainly help to lessen demand and will ease public anxieties about needing to venture out unnecessarily,” said Sheri Kajiwara, director of the city’s Department of Customer Services. “We realize that there are situations where these extensions do not work for some; however, we encourage those who need to renew to do so, while supporting those who prefer to take advantage of the additional four-month extension.”
All appointments made prior to March 25, 2020 were canceled. Go to AlohaQ.org to make a new appointment and follow the prompts to:
- Select a location
- Choose a service (driver license or ID) and
- Verify whether you are eligible for an appointment by entering your information on the expiration checker page.
The AlohaQ system allows appointments only for those licenses expiring this year between March and July. O‘ahu residents with a hardship or a special need outside of these limits can call (808) 768-4177 for assistance.
All road tests, including for commercial driver licenses, remain suspended until further notice. For more information and services, visit honolulu.gov/csd.
