See what is "IN BLOOM" in May at the ARTS at Marks Garage!
What: In Bloom
Where: The ARTS at Marks Garage • 1159 Nuuanu Ave
When: May 7-May 29, 2021
The ARTS at Marks Garage presents In Bloom, featuring the works of 18 local artists. The exhibit is centered on May's colorful season and a dab of asia pacific heritage month.
Our very dramatic nautilus ''aumoana" was created by Christopher Upp of Kauai. The combination of the manmade glass and the nature made shell was so stunning our staff could not stop staring! "I'm not a new artists but have finally bloomed and feel confident in my abilities."
This hibiscus interpretation also had our eyes smiling! Always a great find with Tanya D’Avanzo artwork.
And for a something to tug at your heart and your head "Blossoming" by Wendy Roberts
"Flowers are growing from this woman as a symbol of healing. She appeared in a dream during the intensely creative isolation of the pandemic when I slept and created a lot more than usual. I was recovering from a serious accident at the time. My hope is that this image will be an invitation to introspection and renewal. It’s a long process after a hard winter for the earth to thaw. It takes even longer for bones to knit, and longer still for grief to run its most painful course. Time will mend. I know each person will bring their own meaning to this piece, and I hope it can soothe the sorrows we all carry with us and make us remember to put them aside for a moment. Take a deep breath. How are you feeling? Do you need a rest? Do you need to take a moment to meditate or pray or relax? Is there something you need to release or forgive? What could you do to take care of yourself today?" Wendy Roberts
