Sidewalk repair work will be performed on sections of Waikīkī streets

HONOLULU – On Thursday, August 22, 2024, the City’s Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) will begin sidewalk repairs in the Waikīkī area. Work will be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding all observed state holidays.

Motorists are advised to observe and obey all traffic controls, posted signs, special duty police officers, and to proceed with caution through the construction area. On-street parking will be prohibited during working hours and vehicles illegally parked where No Parking signs are posted will be towed at the owner’s expense. Drivers should anticipate delays and allow for extra travel time due to detours, lane, and road closures.

The project will begin near the intersection of Kalākaua Avenue and ‘Ena Road. Please note that the contractor will not be working on the entire project area at one time. Construction is performed in smaller phases, to help reduce impacts to the public and facilitate traffic movement as much as possible. Work is anticipated to take approximately one year to complete.

DFM’s consultant, Construction Management & Engineering (CM&E), LLC is responsible to manage and coordinate the project including local traffic, access to businesses, deliveries, trash collection, and emergency services.
For any questions or concerns about the project, please contact CM&E at (808) 842-0303.
