Cardboard Sculpture Workshops with Bonhui Uy
(Jan 18 & 25, 2025)
Learn how to create your own single-layer and laminated cardboard sculptures in this fun 2-session workshop led by renowned artist and architectural designer Bonhui Uy. He will be sharing the process of how he creates his deceptively simple 3-dimensional artworks, such as animals, objects and figures. All materials will be provided. Duration: 2 sessions: Saturdays, Jan. 18 and 25 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Class Cost: $120.00 per person (classes may not be purchased separately) Ages: 18+ only, please. Limit 15 students.

Beginner to Intermediate Watercolor Class with Dwayne Adams (Jan - Feb, 2025)
This 6-week session with DAC teaching artist Dwayne Adams covers everything from basics like how to tape paper down, to subjects such as how to paint in washes, creatively blend colors, design painting layouts, and how to handle values. Beginning paint materials are available for purchase for a nominal amount for those with no experience.

Color Power in Fauvism, Part 1 with Marina Borovok

Learn how to paint like les Fauves! Fauvism is a 20th century movement known for expressive use of color in paintings with a striking visual impact. Students will learn how to use bold, vibrant colors and simplified shapes in their expressive acrylic painting compositions. Works of famous Fauvists, like Henry Matisse, Andre Derain, and Georges Braque, will be reviewed in class. Duration: 3 sessions: Wednesdays, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Dates: 1/15, 1/22, 1/29 Class Cost: $90 per person Ages: 18+

Color Power in Fauvism, Part 2 with Marina Borovok
(Feb 2025)
Discover landscapes in this acrylic painting class. Fauvists use color as a primary tool to convey feeling and emotions. Students will learn how to balance what they observe with an intense expression of color. Works of famous fauvists, like Henry Matisse, Andre Derain, and Georges Braque, will be reviewed in class. Students will be prompted to apply the principles of Fauvism in their own works. Duration: 4 sessions: Wednesdays, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm Dates: 2/5, 2/12, 2/19, 2/26 Class Cost: $120 per person Ages: 18+

Make your own art inspired by the Fauvism Art movement! Paint a still life with outrageously vibrant colors full of joy and excitement. Fauvism is a 20th century movement known for expressive use of color in painting. Works by Maurice de Vlaminck and Henry Matisse will be reviewed in class.

Monday Night Life Drawing Group
(Weekly, Starts January 13, 2025)
DAC is pleased to host the revival of Monday Night Life Drawing Group, a weekly artist-run uninstructed drawing session with live models, music, and a great collaborative, creative atmosphere. All artists are asked to bring all their own equipment and supplies. Seating is primarily at tables.

Tuesday Portrait Sessions
(Weekly, Starts January 14, 2025)
The Tuesday Portrait Drawing Group is a weekly, artist-run, uninstructed drawing session with live models, a supportive group of artists and plenty of creative spirit! Artists are asked to bring their own equipment and supplies. DAC provides tables and chairs, but artists may bring their own easels. The focus of this group session is on capturing the portrait of the clothed model, who will be maintaining the pose for 2.5 hours (with breaks).

Making Art For Art’s Sake with Various Facilitators
(Saturdays, Weekly, Starts February 1, 2025)
Let your creative spark loose! Come play, and make art with an open mind, free spirit, and sense of fun - for its own sake. In our weekly one-off art make & take workshops, taught by various DAC teaching artists, students will be given a new project designed to stimulate creativity and learn new art-making techniques in different media.

Duration: Weekly, Saturdays from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Ages: Adults 18+ (or 16+ accompanied by a parent or guardian)
