ANDREW ROSE GALLERY is proud to announce CONTEMPORARY HAWAIIAN LANDSCAPE PAINTING, an exhibition by gallery artists Linda Kāne, Noreen Naughton, and Andrew Rose with invited artists Nick Black, Dennis Escat, Arthur Johnsen, Mark Kadota, Russell Lowrey, Sharon Sussman, Roger Whitlock, and Debbie Young. Featuring original images building on the tradition started by the Volcano School then exemplified by Kilohana artists Hitchcock, Bartlett and Walden and Modernists including OʻKeeffe, Norris and Pohl, this group forms the next wave of leading landscape painters from the Islands. From innovations in color and content to virtuosity with materials and skills, these never-before-seen large, medium and small pieces all made within the last year engage the challenges of this familiar genre and present a vision of the future of Hawaiian landscape painting.
Opening Monday, April 15, CONTEMPORARY HAWAIIAN LANDSCAPE PAINTING runs through Friday, June 28th, 2013, and is the second of four shows the gallery will present in its new, quarterly, extended-exhibition schedule during 2013.ON PAPER II
