Honeymooning in Hawaii in 1985, Garry and his wife Cynthia fell in love with the vibrant colors of the islands. Back in their Minnesota home they began dreaming of moving to Hawaii. Returning to Hawaii in 1987, already accomplished in oils and acrylics, Garry expanded his artistic expertise to watercolor. He began to record Hawaii's history and flowers in glowing watercolors; fast becoming one of Hawaii's most sought after artists.
